All Zinfandel, Syrah and Petite Sirah. Ultra-dark – both in its color and in its deep, rich, brooding and multi-layered fruit. Not only is the the most impressive 8 Years yet; I think it’s the closest to Phinney’s Platonic Ideal of what red wine can be.
As Vivino says:
Starts with spice, mellows, and then a long finish. The 2018 is good, this is better by quite a lot. Classic Dave Phiney zin blend. In another year this will be even better.
The Wine Advocate agrees, also rating this over the 2018:
Medium to full-bodied, the palate is chock-full of ripe, spicy black and red fruits, supported by chewy tannins and tons of freshness, finishing long and earthy.
This super-rich, extremely dark and powerful 8 Years is 16.1% alcohol, though you’d never know it.
