Of all the publications that award 100-point scores, the Tasting Panel and Somm Journal may be the stingiest.
In their Winter 2026 issue, the two top-rated wines were Spottswoode at 98 and Phelps Insignia at 97. And neither of these have ever earned 100 points.
In fact, only one wine earned 100 points in all of 2025, a $500 Vintage Champagne from Krug. And that’s the only wine they have EVER given 100 points.
But in their upcoming May issue, the 2023 Guarachi G Red Blend (88% Cabernet, from the famed Meadowrock Vineyard at the top of atlas Peak) earns a perfect 100-Point score! The only one they’ve ever given to a Napa Cabernet or ANY red wine period!
