In a vintage that the Oregon Wine Board describes as “a vintage for the ages,” De Villaine and on-site winemaker Katrina Rank have really outdone themselves this year!
The winery says:
A vintage full of flavor and pretty tannins. Deep and Shiny red. An explosive nose of strawberries and raspberries melted. A touch of pink pepper exalts aromas. The mouth is open on very fresh energy carried on by a discreet acidity. Silkiness is present, but in its youngest stage and few years will help tannins already supple to express more richness.
Interestingly, de Villaine spent a semester in college in Oregon (Linfield, in the Willamette Valley), and always dreamed of making great Pinot Noir there. This 2023 is the realization of that dream.
