This one is VERY special. Less than 200 cases were made, from over 50-year-old vines bordering Musigny itself.
The Wine Spectator, which prices this at $145, says:
This perfumed red exudes aromas and flavors of rose, cherry, strawberry and spices, with an attractive vegetal accent. Linear and focused, this builds on the detailed aftertaste. Best from 2028 through 2042.
Again, they rare this over top premier crus at $400.
Burghound rates it outstanding, too, saying:
A top note of herbal tea is present on the cool wild red berry and softly spiced nose. The racy, sleek and refined flavors brim with minerality before concluding in a balanced, mildly austere and sneaky long saline-inflected finish. This is also lovely.
Just an archetypal Chambolle-Musigny – as Burghound says, one of the loveliest wines of Burgundy.
