Not only did the International Wine Review rate this extraordinary Sancerre look-alike outstanding…they rated it above EVERY Sancerre they reviewed!

What’s more, they priced it – and recommended it highly - at $45. Here’s their review.

The Touraine Sauvignon Blanc from Domaine Gibault offers lovely aromatics of citrus, gooseberries, lychee and hints of dried herbs all coming together. On the palate this is fresh and inviting, while displaying excellent balance with just the right amount of acidity to keep it fresh and juicy through the finish.

So if you want a wine that tastes like a good Sancerre, and that normally would sell for more than all of our other Sancerres – but just over half the price of said Sancerres…well, look no further.

Compared to the excellent 2020 vintage we sold before, this 2023 shows its superiority in a more perfectly ripe, rich and round character. Indeed, compared to most Sancerres, this one is so elegant and composed it comes across as almost gentle…and for a Sauvignon Blanc unusually caressing.

In that sense, it even “out-Sancerres Sancerre.” The distinction of Sancerre, in my view, and what makes it so popular is the elegance and refined mineralty of Sancerre effectively subsumes its Sauvignon Blanc character. (Essentially the antithesis of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.) Which is why it’s so perfect and popular in French cafes. And this has its Sauvignon character (and typical aggressiveness) in the background even more than almost any Sancerre does.

The label may not say “Sancerre,” but what’s in the bottle positively screams it. Or maybe even better, whispers it.
