The small Chavignol estate of Andre Neveu produces a single-vineyard, old-vine, pure Pinot Noir Rosé that ranks among the very best of Sancerre.

In fact, both Revue du Vin de France and the Guide Hachette rate Neveu’s 2024 Le Grand Fricambault the single-best Rosé Sancerre of the vintage.

The production is tiny, and it’s quite hard to find. Indeed, the only other US retail listing is $42.

The top Sancerre Rosé of the vintage, at 92 points, for Revue du Vin de France. And also for the Guide Hachette, which rates it a Vin Remarquable, saying:

Partridge eye with onion skin and silver highlights, the wine has a brilliant color. Discreet and delicate, the nose reveals lovely aromas of peach, then redcurrant and flowers. The palate offers suppleness, breadth, and freshness. On the finish, the fruity aromas linger for a long time. A wine of remarkable finesse and balance.

Once again, it’s 100% old-vine Pinot Noir, in the very best part of one of the top silex vineyards of Chavignol – which is of course the best Sancerre there is.

Sancerre Rosé – and for that matter French Rosé – doesn’t get any finer than this.

Just a couple of cases now, with (maybe, hopefully) a few more available.
