This one is “classic.” Which is why it’s the Txakoli served by the glass at the legendary Michelin 3-star restaurant Arzak, the finest in the Basque country now, to go with their special Basque tasting menu?
From old vines trained on Pergolas at 1200 feet right by the sea, and a family estate dating to the 1300s, hand harvested well into October (yet still only 10.5% alcohol), this is the epitome of super-fresh and super-versatile, utterly delicious Txakoli.
Here’s a 98-point CellarTracker review:
Outstanding white wine from the Basque region in Spain.
Light straw yellow color in the glass with lovely aromas of fresh apples, honey, lemons and pears. On the palate, highly engaging fruit flavors noted above, plus a vibrancy and acidity that is quite refreshing to the palate.
An ideal white wine to have with fresh seafood.
And I really like this one:
I think I shall die if I can't find this again. Legendary. The Basque do it right. The tiny effervescence is the icing on the cake.
