It’s 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay – yet it has all the power and depth you’d expect from Pinot, but with none of its usual candied quality, and with the finesse and even ethereal light-on-its-feet quality you’d normally expect only from Chardonnay.
It’s raised in (old) oak, a la Krug, AND with weekly batonnage – and has the profound aromas to show for it…but not a trace of “oakiness.”
It has an incredibly high 50% reserve wines, and fabulously layered and (again) profound mature aromas – but not a hint of maderization or any other “old” qualities.
