This wine has always enjoyed a huge reputation in the UK, on a par with Krug (which I believe this Champagne is – though with its no malolactic style, its always fresher and more intense...despite almost all grand cru composition, 20% very old reserve wines and six years on the lees!).

Here’s Decanter:

Gosset is the oldest house in Champagne, and is a favourite among wine trade insiders. This non-vintage cuvée is redolent with the aromas of mellow red apple fruit. It has beautifully subtle autolysis on the palate, with creamy apple and plum flavours, and a great precision at the same time.

And the Wine Spectator:

A spine of chiseled acidity structures this vivid, creamy Champagne, which has a minerally underpinning of smoke and brine and flavors of Asian pear, baked pineapple, lemon curd, toasted brioche and roasted almond. Should pair well with grilled fish.

And Scottish wine writer Tom Cannavan:

From Champagne's oldest house, founded in 1584, the blend is 45% each of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the balance Pinot Meunier, and this bottle is blend of three recent vintages given four years ageing in the Gosset cellars. Despite that softening time on the lees, this is a Champagne with drive and purpose, the nose nuanced with pastry and almond over citrus and stone fruits, but the palate quite steely and very focused, the vibrant but not lean focus of citrus driving through against the creaminess of the mousse in very food-friendly style.

Simply top-notch Champagne, and in a really cool old-fashioned bottle, too.

Prestige-level quality for much less.
