Vinous rates this the best Monts Fournois yet – above their top $300+ Grand Crus:
The 2010 Côte Premier Cru is 100% Chardonnay from Vertus. Bright, aromatic and also surprisingly youthful, the 2010 is immediately appealing, immediately alluring. It's a terrific example of this vintage at its finest. Tangerine peel, pastry, white pepper and flowers all race across the palate. A Champagne of uncommon depth and nuance, the 2010 Côte is irresistible. It’s also one of the very best wines I have tasted in this series of micro-négociant wines from the Bérêche family. What a delight. Dosage is 3.4 grams per liter. Disgorged:
October 2023.
I like what its British importer (who sold out already) says:
A little gem which spent a whopping 13 years on the lees. 100% Chardonnay from Premier Cru vineyards in Vertus, sitting between the ridges, with full sun exposure. Incredibly fresh for its age, this opens up with notes of ripe yellow fruits, moving into a pure, electric palate showing great minerality and definition. A vertical wine very true to the Chardonnay variety, combining refinement and delicacy. A truly memorable Blanc de Blancs to savour straight from arrival this summer.
