In a blind tasting for 37 wine industry professionals, Domaine Serene Pinot Noirs not only topped three separate vintages on Domaine de la Romanee-Conti – they took both first and second place in all three vintages. Now given that 2012 Romanee-Conti sells for an average of $13,766 (IF you can get it), this 2014 Domaine Serene seems a relative bargain.
Especially since it’s the finest (and top-rated) Evenstad Reserve yet. Suckling, who rates it 95 points, says:
A soft and silky pinot with beautiful dried strawberries, blueberries and hints of vanilla to close. Medium to full body, ultra-fine tannins and a fruity finish. This is all about subtlety and freshness.
