For decades, Kenefick Ranch has been one of Calistoga’s elite vineyards – suppling the likes of Arietta, Buccella, Etude, Lewis, Phelps, Nickel and Nickel and Plumpjack's new Cade winery. It’s also where Venge gets their Merlot. But recently, they’ve kept their finest fruit for the small production of their own wines.
The only other store to have this truly magnificent (and dead on) Merlot is the excellent Hi-Times in California, at $50.
100% Merlot, aged in 100% new French oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered. The result is a Merlot that will remind you just why Merlot was once so popular…and is becoming so again.
Now, you can pay $150 for Kenefick’s Proprietary Red, but I suspect a lot of customers (including us) would find this more enjoyable.
