The winery says:
RouteStock is an endeavor of Wilson Daniels. After more than forty years of working with some of the world’s greatest wine families, we’ve formed many key relationships. Through these relationships we have access to exceptionally high-quality fruit sources, allowing us to craft wines with superior quality and authenticity.
RouteStock creates high-quality varietal wines from the world’s most highly regarded wine regions, while paying homage to the roads we travel when we journey through wine country. While there may not be a physical winery and tasting room, RouteStock varies vastly from other négociant brands. We are dedicated to sourcing great fruit and we work very closely with each or our grower partners to grow and produce the wine to our specifications.
All the pieces of each RouteStock wine are treated as if they would be a flagship cuvee. There is absolutely no tank-aged, chipped, augmented, colored or otherwise manipulated wine in any of our finished product.
Winemaker Vance Rose also runs the front-end of the largest cork company in the U.S., Amorim Cork, selling to over 1,700 different wineries in the U.S., many of them in the Napa and Sonoma area. This puts him in contact with numerous winemakers, which whom he has forged some great connections and friendships. Ultimately, this provides us with a competitive advantage to our sourcing and allows us to source every piece intentionally.
We are proud to bring these seriously handcrafted wines with character.
This 2017 is the culmination of their project – and the first to crack the Top 100. The Wine Spectator says:
This offers creamy raspberry, currant and wild plum flavors, supported by medium-grained tannins. The spicy finish lingers with chocolate notes and hints of mint. Drink now through 2023.
It really is quite remarkable that Wilson-Daniels (which doesn’t sell anything cheap) can offer a Pinot this authentic, this high quality and this flat out delicious for only $20.
