From the very best part of the best vineyard in Bué (a steep hillside site facing perfectly south), the commune that makes the most ethereal and for many archetypal Sancerres. Roger explains:

This part of the Grand Chemarin vines results in the finest, most elegant expression in our range of Sancerre wines. Citrus flavours and aromas – mandarin in particular – are characteristic of this terroir. Lovely intensity on the nose as on the palate yet always fresh. Smooth on the palate, boasting remarkable freshness and dense, velvety structure with exquisite flavours reminiscent of the nose. Mineral finish.

Decanter 95 – one of their top Sancerres ever:

Beautifully evolved grassy and honeyed aromatics with a tempting grapefruit acidity, an exemplary texture and an impressively long finish. Stylish and taut with further ageing potential.

Also for the winner of “World’s Best Sommelier,” Andreas Larsson:

Bright straw colour. Pure and intense nose, fine aromatics of fresh peach, ripe citrus, almond, lemongrass and some herbal notes. Very good bite and tension on the palate, salivating and crisp with elegant young fruit flavours a flinty/stony presence, very long and persistent finish. pure, precise and potent.

British wine writer Robert Boutflower says:

Possibly the finest Sancerre I’ve tried is from Etienne Roger who’s Grand Chemarin 2018 is a wine of beauty and grace.

Now you can spend more on a Sancerre (we have magnums of Vatan’s highly sought Clos la Neore at $600!)…but I doubt you’ll find one finer than this.
