Dark ruby red with light purple reflections. Complex on the nose, iron, dark cherry fruit, rich plum, some lovage. On the palate lots of salt and juice, complex, comes in many layers, with finely-meshed tannins, deep and with full splendour, keeps coming back, big.
And 110 for Gardini (I know, a bit dumb, but that’s the score he gives wines he feels “transcend” their category):
Hints of cherry and pepper leaves, with touches of iodine. Opens on the palate juicy and taut, then expands in breadth and depth. Brackish-sapid tannins and an officinal trace mark the finish is deep, great drink and long persistence.
Also best ever for Wine Align:
Tenuta Nuova is something next level and you know this from the moment you put nose to glass. It consumes the senses straight away with its intoxicating perfume as deep as it is strong. Muscular in that regard and exponentially so at the intersection of palate and structure. The stuffing, intensity, power and layers are what we call “off the charts” and there are but a few vintages that create, instill and then leave this kind of impression. Drink 2027-2038.
