With only 250 cases made, and sold almost entirely to their mailing list, I’m surprised there’s any press on this.
But the Wine enthusiast rated it “Outstanding” at $45.
The winery says:
This Reserve bursts out of the glass with mixed dark berry, sweet caramel, and fantastic brown spices, all underscored by silky waves of rich black cherry fruit, purple and red florals, and soft, acidity. Finishing with elegant tannins and flamed citrus peel.
If you’ve had the best ($80) Pinots from Calera, or maybe top Santa Cruz producers like Mount Eden or the Varner brothers, you’ll recognize the very beautiful and Burgundian style of this.
