All of his wines were stunning, but we found this tremendous Bien Nacido Chardonnay the most so. Lindquist goes WAY back with Bien Nacido, and so gets the very best of it. This comes from a prime parcel right behind the winery.
Wine & Spirits (an excellent publication) rates it 93 points, their top Lindquist wine ever:
Firm, muscular, this exhibits plenty of warmth for such a cool climate vineyard, with its nutty lees note and lemon-spritzed pineapple flavors, firm oak, a hint of roasted nuts and lanolin to enrich the texture. Despite its amplitude, it’s well-balanced, with a bright finish that calls for a pork chop.
The Wine Enthusiast also rates this outstanding, and the top Lindquist Bien Nacido Chardonnay yet:
Hazelnut, butter-poached lemon, squeezed mandarin and light macadamia nut aromas make for a wondrous nose on this bottling by Bob Lindquist. Yellow pear skins, grapefruit peels and a touch of guava show on the palate, which is pithy in texture.
