The Wine Advocate rates the incredible 2021 Booker My Favorite Neighbor Blanc (Chardonnay) 97 points, comparing it to a super-rich, “old school” Napa Chardonnay. But the reality is that it blows all those super-rich Napa Chardonnays away, even in the great 2021 Napa vintage.
Booker’s so cool they don’t even label their best-ever Chardonnay as Chardonnay (except on the back label). It’s a whopping Wine Advocate 97:
The 2021 MFN Blanc Chardonnay is very ripe in style with scents of banana chip, apple pie, jasmine, allspice and brown sugar. The full-bodied palate is packed with ripe, spicy fruits and plenty of refreshing acidity, and it finishes long with a satiny, mouth-coating texture. It's an old-school style reminiscent of Napa that fans of ripe, oaked Chardonnays will enjoy.
I often find this full-throttle style of California Chardonnay a bit too much, but when it’s as good as this (or Shafer or Signorella Hope’s or of course Aubert and HDV) there may be no other dry white wine so sumptuous and impressive.
And as the Wine Advocate says, it should remain this terrific through 2028.
We expect to sell quickly through what little we have, but will keep a waiting list as we do hope to get some more.
