Chateau du Trignon is well known as one of the top estates in Gigondas. But their high-altitude vineyards on the steep clay and limestone cliffs (terraced) of the famed Dentelles de Montmirail are also ideal for the most finicky (but best) white grape of the Southern Rhone, Roussanne.
Wine Spectator 90 at $20:
Starts off subdued, with delicate floral, cantaloupe and wet stone notes, building in momentum on the palate. Silky on the round palate, with zesty minerality adding nice depth and a bitter pithy note at the end. Drink now through 2026.
Also Suckling 90:
A fresh roussanne with plenty of apricot and some custard character that’s ripe with some nice mid-palate richness, but also lively and well balanced at the clean finish.
