I like that McPrice Myers offers this under their line of “Hard Working Wines” – because it certainly is that.
Wine Advocate 94 at $25:
The 2021 Zinfandel Pound for Pound has a deep ruby color and aromas of wild berry fruit and accents of rooibos tea, wildflowers, apricot, tar and underbrush. Medium-bodied, it floods the mouth with spicy fruit and floral streaks. It is grainy and very refreshing, with a long, detailed finish. Lovely! All that juicy fruit is ideal for barbecue and spicy dishes.
Outstanding for the Wine Enthusiast, too:
This is a flavorful and balanced style of Zinfandel, beginning with aromas of boysenberry, blackberry, loamy earth and smoky woodspice. The palate is tense in structure and high in acidity, giving an edge to the violet and blackberry jam flavors.
And the Wine Spectator, too:
Gutsy yet expressive, with brooding blackberry, licorice and bay leaf accents that build structure toward broad-shouldered tannins. Drink now through 2030.
