Suckling:
Spiced cherries, wild berries and hints of licorice, walnuts and wet stones. Medium-bodied with firm tannins. It has a toasty, cedary aftertaste. Bright and focused.
Wine Advocate:
The Poggio Bonelli 2021 Chianti Classico shows a pretty combination of candied cherry and powdery mineral notes. These are traits I often find in the Sangiovese-based wines best suited for pizza or pasta night. This informal presentation hits all the right marks, offering plump dark fruit and good acidity to close. The mouthfeel is mid-weight, leaning slightly toward the more robust side of the spectrum.
Winemaker Notes
An authentic, characteristic expression of the character of Sangiovese. Chianti Classico is a deep ruby red in color. Bouquet is clearly typical of Sangiovese, including hints of cherry and plum with sweet spicy notes. Full and complex in the mouth, featuring dense, mature tannins accompanying a rich, crisp finish.
