This tiny production luxury cuvee is from the very best, carefully selected grapes from Sangouard’s finest plots and oldest vines. It’s the only Sangouard wine aged entirely in new and newish (under 3 years) oak.
The result is a Pouilly-Fuissé that’s extremely (almost creamy) rich, yet with Sangouard’s trademark precision and balance.
As good as the Ancestrale is – and Burghound is right, it’s a top-notch Pouilly-Fuissé – this one takes it to another level.
I defy anyone to find ANY white Burgundy (or really Chardonnay period) that’s remotely this good – or this profound – for a price anywhere close to this.
As Sangouard says, it’s both rich and full enough to pair with everything from lobster to foie gras to poultry or even veal in a cream sauce. And it will easily age for a decade.
