A superb vintage for Ponzi’s value-priced Pinot Noir.
As Northwest wine writer Paul Gregutt says:
This is one of the most reliably delicious-while-affordable Pinot Noirs in all of Oregon.
Luisa Ponzi says:
Fresh red fruits of strawberry, cranberry and pie cherry tinged with notes of rose petal and peppercorn leap from the glass. The mouth has darker notes of cola, blackberry, salty licorice, and vanilla. The finish holds bright acidity framed by soft tannins and a hint of rhubarb jam to perfectly balance this lovely pure expression of Oregon Pinot noir.
This is a combination of Pinot Noir from Ponzi’s estate vineyards and a few select sustainable sites in the Willamette Valley.
And for a Ponzi Pinot Noir, it’s a serious bargain. Indeed, there may be no finer Oregon Pinot Noir under $30.
Best price anywhere on this terrific 2021, too. (And though it isn’t rated yet, 2021 is a simply remarkable Oregon vintage.)
