Gilman rates this Juillot’s top Rully “Thivaux” yet, saying:
The single vineyard bottling of les Thivaux is an excellent Rully in the 2023 vintage. These are some of the youngest vines at the domaine, as they are only fourteen years of age, but this parcel sits at the very top of the slope on thin topsoils and shows superb minerality as a result. The wine is raised half in casks and half in demi-muids. The 2023 les Thivaux offers up a complex nose of apple, lime, stony minerality, citrus zest, dried flowers and a deft touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, crisp and complex, with a lovely core of fruit, fine backend minerality, a really good spine of acids and fine focus and grip on the impeccably balanced finish. (Drink between 2025-2040)
All the quality and class of a top Puligny or Chassagne, but at less than half the price.
