The 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella 3Cru entices with a dusty mix of dried cherries, cinnamom and rose. This is silky and juicy in style, with bright acidity that enlivens the rich raspberry fruits, sweet, sweet spices and hints of smoke within. It leaves a staining of confectionary spice. The 3Cru is more extroverted and fruit-forward in character, yet it shows amazing energy.
This amazing Amarone fermented for a full month, and then spent a full 36 months in oak.
It also earned 93 points and the Amarone Trophy from the German magazine Falstaff. They actually rated it equal to Rizzardi’s top $90 Calcarole Amarone.
It also won “best Amarone Classico” at the Decanter World Wine Awards, which said:
“Generous and magnificent. A truly excellent Amarone from a top producer.”
