This is a 50/50 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from their two top old vine plots: the Chardonnay from Louvois and the Pinot Noir from Bouzy.
From three great vintages – 2008, 2009 and 2010 – and bottled with a low dosage of only 5 g/l. (So Extra Brut.)
Caractère recently received a gold medal and a “coup de coeur” (19/20) at the World Feminalise competition, where the jury is exclusively made of women. It also won the Prix des Vinalies 2019, a competition where the jury is made exclusively of oenologists.
Simply put: a profound Tete de Cuvee Champagne from three brilliant older vintages that’s still quite light in color, fresh and refined. This really would put just about any older Champagne – including those from the classic 2008 vintage which is its main component – to shame.
Plus, we have by far the lowest price in the world for this rare luxury Champagne.
Indeed, we have it for far less than other local stores sell even the most ordinary big house non-vintage Champagnes. (Veuve Clicquot’s Yellow Label is selling locally for up to $82.)
