We are calling this “2022 Secret Old-Vine Oregon Pinot Noir,” as it’s from some of Oregon’s oldest (and also ungrafted) Pinot Noir vines, planted in 1973. It’s also made by a woman everyone considers one of Oregon’s very top winemakers, Isabelle Meunier, who Burgundy superstar Dominique Lafon tapped to be the first head winemaker for his illustrious Evening Land project.
As Northwest wine writer Owen Bargreen explains:
Isabelle Meunier is one of Oregon’s great winemakers. She formerly worked for Dominique Lafon to oversee winemaking at his then-new Oregon consulting project, Evening Land, in 2007. In a short amount of time, she became one of Oregon’s most acclaimed winemakers. Isabelle has degrees in winemaking and viticulture from the University of Dijon in Burgundy, and in New Zealand at Lincoln University. Her new wines (the 2022s) were spectacular.
