There are MANY reasons this wine transcends normal Aligoté. But one of them is that it is from 65 to 115-year-old vines in Burgundy’s best vineyards for Aligoté. All planted to the lower-yielding and superior Aligoté Doré clone.

Vinous says:

The 2023 Bouzeron has a vivacious nose that boldly declares, "I am Aligoté!" The palate is well balanced with a keen line of acidity and beautiful weight in the mouth, featuring hints of lemon curd, white peach and Anjou pear toward the poised finish. You'll find few Bouzerons better than this.

And Jasper Morris:

Pale lemon and lime. Backward, showing density, some opulence, but not too much, with crystalline clarity behind. Extra tension, and very long indeed. Different layers of fruit wash over the back of the palate. Drink from 2026-2028.

And the Fine Wine Review:

Mineral nose. Medium-weight very pure, mineral, smooth, complete, racier than than the wines of 25 years ago, more tension and freshness. Bouzeron, an appellation created in 1998 due to the efforts of the estate’s founder, Aubert de Villaine, is by definition Aligoté, and here it is the Raisin Doré type. 17 parcels go into this wine, most are at higher elevation which helps to keep yields down; also use the Gobelet pruning to limit yields.

Not only a great Aligoté at $48 (the lowest price anywhere), but a great white Burgundy period.

This 2023 vintage is also the top-rated ever on CellarTracker.
