Under screwcap, this wine is sourced from Hyde and Firetree vineyards in Los Carneros (Napa). It leads with beautiful citrus fruit and caramelised citrus peel, touched by hints of butterscotch and crème brûlée. The fruit is remarkably penetrating and deeply flavourful, redolent of citrus and pithy grapefruit, alongside poached pear and underripe pineapple. All of it is framed by an expressive savoury salinity and mineral intensity reminiscent of polished river stones, with a subtle note of liquorice adding complexity. The finish is super-expressive and persistent, carrying that citrus-mineral interplay long after the final sip. It simply goes on and on. Aged 15 months in 30% new French oak.
Easily the best (and highest-rated) HDV De La Guerra to date.
